One could only hope that the future of democracy gets better. Im a positive person and cant imagine anything else getting worse than it is right now because something good that is being hammered into our education system is equality. I think that future generations will continue to fight for it and with that our country will become a great democracy. Ofcourse it will take many years for that to happen but nothing happens overnight. I do think my opinion is a realisitc one because look at how far our country had become from when the first Europeans settled here. we have been through a civil war, a great depression, president assasination, terrorist attacks and now we have the first black president. Although times are hard right now I beleive, just like all the other times, americans will pull themselves together and make things great and even better again. If technology can continue to advance then so can our democracy.

Blog Review: Joelle Begic
ReplyDeleteBy Melanie Ransom
I see Joelle’s blog as being very positive, yet informative. One image that she has on her blog that says “be the change you wish to see in the world,” seems to sum up her blog pretty nicely. Especially in her last post, where she discusses her hopefulness for the future of democracy. She talks about how she thinks that future generations will continue to fight for equality and will create a great democracy. She offers examples of things our country has overcome to back up her hopes for what democracy will become, such as the civil war, the Depression, and terrorist attacks.
I really enjoy how Joelle’s personality seems to shine through in the design of her blog and in her posts. She is clearly an optimistic person, and the bright design of her blog parallels this. The light colors combined with dark text make it easy to read, which is actually a lot more refreshing than other blogs that try to make their design flashy, but actually make it annoying. I also really enjoyed the videos that she included with her posts; they are educational and entertaining for her reader.
The main improvement that I think could be made to Joelle’s blog is regarding the images that she has included. Some of them are enjoyable, but I can’t really tell what a lot of them are. They are bad quality or just to small for the text to be read. And I would really like to be able to see them! In this vain, previewing the posts before posting would go a long way. She would be able to see what her reader will see and make necessary adjustments, such as making sure that the text flows correctly and doesn’t have unnecessary spacing, like in the post about the opportunities and challenges of democracy. It’s unfortunate that such a great post is such a chore to read.
Overall, I think that Joelle did a great job on her blog this semester. It is education, informative and current as well as fun to read and engaging to the reader. I think a few adjustments would go a long way in making it look a little nicer and more academic, but for the most part it looks really good. It was an interesting and inspiring blog that was a joy to review.
